Yes linux is good but most people use Linux systems for servers, not that many people use them for personal use. Once you get the feel of Linux it can be really good. If you want to start out with a Linux I start out with Mandrake.
Reply With Quote Ubuntu is great, I haven't tried its KDE variant, Kubuntu. Vidalinux is supposedly a good variant of Gentoo (you'll probably be compiling a lot of stuff though), Fedora Core is nice but lacks a decent package manager as of FC3 (haven't tried FC4 -- it's not ready anyway, since it's in testing), and Debian is somewhat stale.
Reply With Quote I am not a gnome fan, so I'm happy to see a KDE version of ubuntu. :)
I use Gentoo right now, but I'm still troubleshooting a sound problem right now, seems something always has to go wrong when I install Gentoo. :D

I think window platform is stable and you should it.
for example dot.version and winXP pro very good and also the win2003server also cool.

woah why is this in windows?
Reply With Quote If you are new to Linux, I would suggest Mandrake. Not too many problems from people, as I've noticed. There have been problems with Fedore Core 3 w/the sound card, etc.
