there would be no point deducting YCP because they arn't worth anything exept for "i have more than you do!!!:p "-ing, rewriting the sentances would take AAGGEESS to write the script for though it wouuld be good:idea: i think just one * would be good to differentiate from swear and spelling /grammer mistake

just leave things the way they are! deducting YC points would be bad because the word censors take out words alot of people don't consider swearing in order to not offend others.

giving users a warning before the message is posted is a good idea, but people should read over their posts anyways.

I don't really agree with completely cutting out the word, it does make the sentence look stupid, and, in my opinion, I don't see how cutting up a sentence so it might not even make sense looks more 'professional and mature' than the ocassional swear word. There aren't many people who are actually offended by swearing, and I imagine most of the members would use swear words to show frustration or something, rather than to try and offend another member. If swearing is used to offend another member, I think it would be better just to warn that member and delete the post, rather than censoring all swear words. Especially since swear words are often seen as part of another word - cons***ution was the example used a few posts back.

I agree with eazman on the YCP deduction. Does it take out hell?

EDIT: Nope. But Kate. has a good point too. If you take out the whole word, it's confusing and looks stupid. And I'm certainly not offended by swearing, I do it all the time around my friends. my mom's a picky little goody-two-shoes, though, so I don't do it around her unless I get so frustrated that I just let it slip, like if we're arguing or something.

I think everyone understands the fact that most people don't mind swearing (I am one of them). However some people are offended and we need to create an environment were everyone is comfortable.

If you MUST use colourful language to express your feeling and can't stand blanks in your sentence type something like this "@#!$%*"

--> I think this topic has served its purpose *locked.
