  3. MySQL / phpMyAdmin Questions

    Ok,

Maybe not the right place to put this, but I figured it wold work...

It has been a few years since I needed to create a new user and database in MySQL. I have been playing with phpMyAmin and I was wondering if someone can give me a quick refresher.

Basically looking to build a new database with a user / passwords and rights.

    Thanks

Well, if you are using cPanel you create a new user under "MySQL". Where it says "Users:" you simply type in a username and password and click "Add user". Then higher up onb that page you can select the user in the select box "User" and the database in the select box "Db", and use the different checkboxes to select different priveleges.

To create a new database, on the first page of phpmyadmin you see, type the database name under "Create new database", and then click "Create".

    Hope that helps ;)

  9. Re: MySQL / phpMyAdmin Questions

I have done it in cPanel before and I've added new databases to existing sites with existing user logins.

But, lets say I am logged in as root user and I want to create a new user with access to a new database... That is the information I am looking for.

    Thanks
