.Net vs Java

I also want to know .NET is better to build a website or I go with Java. I found that both are good to use and also very vast. Any suggestion?

.NET is not a language but a framework with thousands of classes. The framework is very comprehensive and fairly accessible.The API for Java 5 and later is usable as well, but the J2EE framework seems like an odd collection of all kinds of different pieces put together. It is powerful but takes longer to master.
