I was more referring to cross platform apps in general, after a complaint was that Gorda's checkers couldn't be played on Windows.

Reply With Quote Since the competition obviously hasn't ended yet, I thought I'd use the opportunity to respond to vista's checkers :p
You can download the client here:

New:
- The entire app is now based on Core Animation. This means everything is animated :D
- This is very cool: The dock icon updates to reflect the actual board. So you can see the actual game progress just by looking at the dock
I'll upload the source in a few minutes. Video later today maybe.
EDIT: I've got a new version coming later today. Crowning seems to be broken in the above version :\ (it was working in the version before).

Reply With Quote Yes they totally are and on all platforms - but Windows - a GUI application looks like it's running on a poorly-made Windows 95 low-graphics-safe-mode :push:
Console applications are fine though :D
If only there was a single GUI toolkit like wxWidgets or Gtk+. Oh, wait. :p
P.S. that strange Noodles shameless-promotion will be explained soon, really.
Reply With Quote Okay! I've made some further improvements and unless some major bugs come to light, this will be my final revision.
New:
- Fixed that bug with crowning (the pieces could move as kings but the crown wouldn't appear immediately)
- Pieces are now at the top when being moved
- If a player can't move or has no pieces, the other player is declared the winner in an alert
- Now shows possible moves (you still drag pieces but it shows where you can move them to)

Here's the dock icon during play showing the actual state of the board:
Here's a short video showing off mutliple takes and kings:

It's now over a week after the deadline. Can we wrap this up? I don't think we're going to get any more entries (of course if we are then I'm happy to wait).
