  3. lgfl bypass?

Hi, Just signed up to this forum. Maybe you guys can finally help me get past the *lovely* lgfl filter. I think my school has a personal edited version cos on the network settings its not the usual proxy1.equinoxsolutions.com domain but my school name instead of the equinox bit. However I'm hoping theres a universal solution to the filter. I would also like to introduce myself, I myself know quite alot about computers (or so I like to think :D) so hopefully if someone can tell me how I can also provide to this community.

    Thanks

    jonnyboy21 :)

    Haha!

My school uses their own IP as the proxy address, but entering proxy1.equinoxsolutions.com let's you go on anything :p

Have you tried entering proxy1.equinoxsolutions.com as the proxy?

You could bypass any HTTP proxy really by using a client-side and server-side program which sends messed up data via HTTP ;)

i put the equinoxsolutions details in, along with port 80 as detailed on their website but i couldn't get on to any website. I didn't try keeping the same port my school had set up though

    That's strange...

I didn't find out about the equinoxsolutions.com address on their (lgfl's?) website, but rather I typed random stuff in the address bar and got a message like:

    Unable to resolve domain asdsfdjadas.com

    --------------------------------------------
Squid caching proxy server at proxy1.equinoxsolutions.com (port 80)
I wondered why it said that and tried it instead and heh, everything was unblocked :p

At my work the setup we have works pretty good.

    a. Firefox settings are locked such as changing the proxy it goes through, and changing the homepage.
    b. Our firewall blocks all traffic going in and out of it unless its going through out proxy server. So you must go through it to get to the internet.
    c. For IE. Group policy changes the home page / proxy settings back every hour to what we set them too.

On a mac? Fun! didn't even think macs supported boot disks :p
I prefer to use my iPod or laptop, since they have alllll the settings unlocked (and the iPod supports VPN easily!).
Yes, I tell anybody who's looking to make their internet super-secure to block everything but port 80 (and SMTP and IMAP and POP3) outbound and to employ some good filtering software. Didn't think to block anything not running through a the filtering proxy though...
